After graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009 with a degree in Marketing and Business Administration, Teresa Becker Weirich decided to take a less traditional career path. She decided to join Orr Fellowship. Teresa would later see that her decision to become an Orr Fellow was just the tipping point of her successful journey.

As a senior at Butler University, Ashton was faced with a tough choice: a guaranteed job offer, or taking a chance on the Fellowship before she knew if she’d even made it past the first round of interviews. So what did she do? She followed her gut. She turned down the job offer and pursued Orr Fellowship instead. “I guess that was probably the first indicator that it was the right decision for me,” she says. “You have to accept ambiguity and be comfortable with a certain amount of risk as an entrepreneur.”

Brittany Young joined Orr Fellowship in 2012 after graduating from Butler University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. The Fellowship was an attractive option for Brittany; it provided opportunities for continual learning, a strong peer and professional network throughout Indianapolis, executive mentorship, and new challenges.

Mike Langellier – CEO at TechPoint – has walked alongside Orr Fellowship since his professional career began, believing that “career development is like a flight of stairs. Every next step you take is going to have a foundation of reliance on the step before, and you just have to trust it.” When Mike was offered an Orr Fellowship position upon graduating from DePauw University, he accepted saying, “I knew it was the thing I needed to do.”

“I wasn’t really going to give Lesson.ly a go if I knew there was a safety net.” This was the thought running through Max Yoder’s head as he moved his entire life savings into the then young company known as Lesson.ly. During his time in Orr Fellowship, Max was able to develop his skills and network which resulted in founding the software company, Lesson.ly.

Doug Booth graduated from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management with a degree in Management Information Systems in 2013 and accepted an Orr Fellowship position at ExactTarget (now Salesforce).
