Lauren George graduated from Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business in 2013 and accepted a position in Orr Fellowship with Orbis Education, the nation’s leading third-party manager of accelerated healthcare degree programs. The Fellowship has a deep pride for the city of Indianapolis and giving back to the community. Lauren fully embraced this spirit of giving back to Indy and has since made a career out of just that- she is an advocate for Indianapolis in her current position with Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Lauren said the Fellowship “immerses you so deeply [in Indianapolis] that you couldn’t leave if you wanted to.” An Indianapolis native with a family history in racing, Lauren was determined to carve her own path in the city, which led her to Orr Fellowship. During her two years, Lauren really poured in and committed herself to all aspects of the Fellowship. She was Director of Alumni Relations, planned marketing events, helped with recruitment efforts at Notre Dame, and did a non-profit consulting project with United Way. Through these opportunities, she realized her passion for the cultural and civic organizations that make up the fabric of our city.
Although she came to love the entrepreneurial community she was immersed in through the Fellowship, she realized the impact the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500 have on the city and the potential for even greater impact. As Manager of Civic Partnerships at IMS, Lauren now spends her days figuring out how to leverage the month of May and the biggest one day sporting event in the world to fuel the Indianapolis community and its organizations. She finds different ways to put the spotlight on Indy every single day, making her a vital part of our Indianapolis community.
