Vital to Orr Fellowship's Mission

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels of our organization, from the Board of Directors to the Orr management team to Orr Fellows. We believe that in recruiting and developing the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs, we must not only invite diverse candidates to bring their whole selves to the table, but ensure we are working to build inclusive environments for our community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We still have much work to do, but I am proud of our momentum.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Team
Led by the Orr Fellow Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, the team’s purpose is to educate, challenge, and enrich Orr Fellowship to be a community of inclusive excellence.
- Community-Building: Engage members of diverse communities and organizations to promote inclusivity at the organizational and local level
- Personal Enrichment: Cultivate intercultural competency that catalyzes professional and social growth of Fellows
- Recognition: Promote understanding of underrepresented groups’ experiences in Orr Fellowship and local/global communities
Orr Fellow Recruitment
Diverse membership representation matters. It is vital to successfully performing our mission of recruiting and developing the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs. Each year the Fellowship trains Fellows, executive staff, and Board members on ways to identify and counter bias when meeting and evaluating new people and creates campus action plans for each school in order to reach as many diverse candidates as possible.
Orr Fellow Programming & Education
DEI Roundtables focus on creating space for Fellows to engage in deeper dialogue and critical discourse. Past topics include: mental health, accessibility, pride, access, volunteerism, etc. Professional Perspectives Opportunities are special events featuring prominent leaders in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space.
Orr Fellow Advocacy & Community Outreach
From cultivation of stronger data implementation/reporting measures to the continual auditing of inclusive practices, Orr leaders collaborate with current Fellows to center the Fellow voice, knowing honesty and advocacy are the tools to pave the way to Orr’s collective vision.
The Fellowship also establishes partnerships with Indianapolis organizations focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion and encourages its partner companies in this work.
