Diverse representation in the Orr community matters and Orr Fellowship is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels within the organization. It is essential to the successful execution of our mission of recruiting and developing the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs. We must not only invite diverse candidates to bring their whole selves to the table, but ensure we are working to build inclusive environments for our community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We still have much work to do, but I am proud of our momentum. Orr Fellowship welcomes the opportunity to further the conversation on how we can do better with companies and constituents alike.
Orr Fellow Recruitment
As Orr Fellowship recruits and develops the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs, it’s essential that we attract diverse candidates and support them throughout the recruitment process. Orr Fellowship continuously works to enhance the inclusivity and equity within all our practices and programming, and recruitment is no exception. Each year we educate Orr Fellows, our executive staff, and board members on ways to ensure the recruitment process is an inclusive and equitable experience for all. For example, previous programming has included implicit bias training and equity dialogue workshops facilitated by a local organization.
Orr Fellow Programming & Education
Engaging with diverse perspectives and understanding how to support one another as allies is critical to building a strong community. Orr Fellowship strives to foster inclusive excellence with programming and education that creates conversations around identity, experiences, and allyship. Orr Fellowship offers various opportunities for Fellows to learn about others’ experiences and understand how we can amplify marginalized voices. Previous initiatives have included round table discussions, speakers, resource sharing, potlucks, and even a salsa dancing class!
Orr Fellow Advocacy
Each Fellow’s feedback is encouraged as we strive to become a community of inclusive excellence. Our mission is to enable and empower each Fellow with the proper resources to ensure their success as active members in Orr Fellowship and the Indianapolis community, as well as offer resources and opportunities for Fellows to grow their knowledge on topics like race, class, sexuality, and neurodiversity.
DEI Liaisons are active Fellows who partner with internal teams to ensure inclusivity and equity are at the forefront of all Orr content and programming. Our goal is to see DEI efforts run fluidly throughout Orr Fellowship with DEI Liaisons acting as thought partners within other Fellow teams. Our liaisons support areas such as Marketing, Continued Learning, Community Engagement, and Fellow & Alumni Engagement.
