The Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is a two-and-a-half-mile track that is the home of the Indianapolis 500, the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, the Brickyard 400 and Moto GP. IMS is a hub for motorsports economic activity in Indiana. In 2016, IMS will host the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. Built in 1909, this Speedway, Indiana, landmark was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987 – the only such landmark to be affiliated with automotive racing history.
