Reception on the Circle is one of the most anticipated Orr Fellowship events of the Fall! This year, it will be held on October 27th at the Indianapolis Public Library, a beautiful and classic venue in the heart of downtown. Due to recent renovations, the library now has ten unique spaces to host events, making it the ideal spot for groups of larger sizes to come together. Reception on the Circle is the second step in the Fellowship’s interview process, meaning that close to one hundred and fifty candidates, chosen from an applicant pool of over one thousand, will be attending in hopes of becoming Orr Fellows themselves!
This exciting evening will bring together applicants from all over the Midwest, current fellows, and the Board of Directors to celebrate what the Fellowship stands for and what kind of impact the organization has on the Indianapolis community. In tandem with that celebratory spirit, three speakers will be attending the event to share about their personal experience with the Fellowship.
Sally Reasoner is the Vice President of Talent Identification at Ascend Indiana. She started her career as a member of Orr Fellowship where she worked at FinishMaster and served as the Fellowship’s Chief of Staff. Reasoner then joined the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership to build TechPoint’s workforce development strategy. At TechPoint, Reasoner served as the Director of Talent Initiatives and lead the successful launch of four college-to-career programs which recruited over 350 students and new-grads to nearly 60 Central Indiana companies. Reasoner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DePauw University.
John McDonald, CEO of CloudOne, an award winning software company based in Fishers, IN, will be sharing his experience with the Fellowship from a host company executive’s perspective. Formerly a technical sales executive at IBM for over 20 years, McDonald is one of the founding members and on the steering committee of the 450+ member Cloud Customer Standards Council, a board member of the Venture Club of Indiana, and a board member of TechPoint. McDonald is also member of the IBM PartnerWorld Global Business Partner Advisory Council and of the Industrial Advisory Board for Purdue Polytechnic Institute at his alma mater, Purdue University.
Scott Brenton, the current Chairman of the board for Orr Fellowship, will be the final speaker of the evening. Brenton is currently Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Indiana University Health, one of the state’s largest employers. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Angie’s List, and the proud boilermaker alum has been involved in the Fellowship since its ideation in 2001. It was while working for Angie’s List that Brenton and two of his business partners shared a vision for a program that would attract, develop, and retain the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs; thus, the Orr Fellowship was born.
Reception on the Circle is entirely unique to Orr’s recruiting process, and the Fellowship looks forward to continuing the tradition in 2016.
